Pamela Anderson's campy V.I.P. may be R.I.P. but there's always another vixen willing to step into her platform heels. This time, its Natasha Henstridge yes, the alien babe from Species! who leads a trio of lady detectives on NBC's She Spies. "This show makes fun of pop culture and TV," she tells TV Guide Online. "It's far more spoofy than serious. We laugh at ourselves before other people get the chance!"
The show's toothsome trinity seems heavily inspired by Charlie's Angels. "It's three girls working undercover, sexy and action oriented," she laughs. "I guess [that] does bear some resemblance! But for me it's Austin Powers meets Alias."
Between this show and her Showtime movie Power and Beauty (which debuted July 21), Henstridge is enjoying some newfound notoriety in Hollywood. "On Sunset Blvd., there's Power and Beauty and She Spies billboards 200 feet apart. It's fun and it's good for the ego. All three of us girls are going down to take some pictures by the She Spies one. It's so huge there on the side of the Hyatt Hotel building!"
Henstridge may want to keep a low profile after Beauty, in which she played JFK mistress Judith Campbell Exner. "Judith Exner was a woman who had an affair with JFK for a couple of years right before he became president," the actress reminds us. "She was also charged with sending messages back and forth from him to the Chicago mob boss Sam Giancana. It's a pretty controversial role. It is showing Kennedy in a different light, so I think that's what people are getting their backs up about."
