THE SAGA CONTINUES...
More Boobygate backlash: According to TheSmokingGun.com, a Tennessee woman has filed a proposed class-action lawsuit, claiming Janet Jackson's Super Bowl striptease caused TV viewers to "suffer outrage, anger, embarrassment and serious injury." Terri Carlin, 47 — a Knoxville bank employee — named Miss Jackson, Justin Timberlake, CBS, MTV, Viacom and pretty much anyone her lawyer could think of as defendants in the case. Meanwhile, Laguna Beach High has cited Janet's scandal as the reason for nixing MTV's plans to film students' lives at the California school. To sum up, the whole world's gone mad.
... STILL CONTINUING
'N Sync's JC Chasez is furious at the NFL for pulling him from this weekend's Pro Bowl halftime show in the wake of Boobygate. "I have had a great relationship with the NFL in the past and feel that I have been mistreated," says the 27-year-old, who turned down the league's offer to sing the national anthem instead. "While I agree the mishap at the Super Bowl was a huge mistake, the NFL's shallow effort to portray my music as sexually indecent brings to mind another era when innocent artists were smeared with a broad brush by insecure but powerful people," Chasez added. "That's not the America I love. Nor is this the NFL I love. I'll sing the national anthem anytime, anywhere, but not for this NFL." Nothing against JC, but homey had some help writing that statement.
ALONG CAME MORE WORK
Jennifer Aniston has lined up her first post-Friends film gig. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Along Came Polly headliner has signed on to star in an untitled comedy about a young woman who discovers that her family's darkest secret was the inspiration for The Graduate. And, to add injury to insult, she may have been the biological offspring of that scandal. D'oh!
GOOD HELP IS HARD TO FIND
Robert Blake's defense attorney, Tom Mesereau, has quit — citing undisclosed "irreconcilable differences" with the Baretta star. This comes as a blow to Blake, whose case was just two weeks away from jury selection. His trial for the murder of wife Bonny Lee Bakley could now be delayed up to six months while Blake's new defense gets up to speed. Just to refresh your memory, Mesereau inherited the Blake case from lawyer Harland Braun, who quit after the actor granted a jailhouse interview to Diane Sawyer. Mesereau's co-counsel, Jennifer Keller, also quit a while back. To sum up, Bobby has a headache THIS BIG and it's got Excedrin written all over it.
WILL OZZY CRY?
Speaking of Diane Sawyer, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne will discuss their latest crisis with Sawyer on ABC's Primetime Thursday Feb. 19. Just to recap: Ozzy was seriously injured when his all-terrain vehicle flipped over on top of him at their estate in Southern England. The couple is also expected to lament the axing of Shar's low-rated chat show. They'll probably also vow to quit The Osbournes... again.
INJURED
A snowboard champion performing a stunt on Thursday's Late Show with David Letterman was injured when she veered off a ramp and fell 25 feet to the ground. Tara Dakides, nicknamed the Terrorizer, was hospitalized and remains in stable condition. Because of the mishap, the Late Show stopped taping Thursday and was slated to air a repeat last night instead.
ONE ON ONE EQUALS TWO
UPN is developing a spin-off of One on One that will revolve around Flex's barber-brother returning to Baltimore in hopes of taking over their father's barbershop. That reminds me, I need a haircut.
